One more person died of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Qatar on Thursday to take the death toll to three, while the total confirmed cases jumped by 111 to 946.
Ministry of Public Health said the deceased is identified as an 85-year-old resident who was suffering from acute pneumonia. 
The deceased was admitted to intensive care immediately upon his diagnosis on Wednesday and treatment and medical care was provided to him immediately. The ministry extended condolences to the family of the deceased.
Some of the new cases are linked to travellers who returned to Qatar from abroad and were subjected to quarantine upon arrival. Others were in contact with those tested positive earlier. All the newly infected cases were put into quarantine and are receiving all necessary medical care.
Meanwhile, one more person recovered in the last 24 hours to take the total to 72.
As many as 877 individuals are under treatment for the virus infection.
The Ministry of Public Health today conducted laboratory COVID-19 tests for 1435 people, bringing the total number of tests to 26,260 so far, as the use of new laboratory techniques continues to contribute to a greater number of daily tests. 
Qatar on Saturday confirmed the first death in the country due to the coronavirus. A Bangladeshi national, who was suffering from chronic diseases, died of the virus.
After first appearing in Wuhan, China in December, the virus, officially known as COVID-19, has spread to at least 177 countries and regions, according to data compiled by U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.
