With more than 13,900 new cases testing positive for coronavirus on Thursday, the United States becomes the first country to surpass China on the total infected tally.
According to worldometers.info, a page displaying the live count of coronavirus, US has 82,150 total cases, more than China's 81,285. More than a 1,135 deaths in the country have been linked to the virus. The highest number of deaths reported in a single day came Wednesday, with 223 deaths.
Health officials are warning that numerous hospitals around the country may run out of beds within two weeks as cases continue rising.
