Qatar on Sunday confirmed 64 more cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of people infected by the virus in the country to 401, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
So far, 7,950 people have been tested for Covid-19 in Qatar. According to the latest statement from the MoPH, a majority of them haven't shown any symptoms of the virus. Qatar hasn't reported any fatality linked to the virus or termed any case as being ‘critical’ so far.
Meanwhile, four coronavirus-infected persons recovered on Saturday.
The same day, the ministry confirmed 17 more cases of coronavirus. All of them were among those under observation for having been in contact with individuals previously tested positive for the virus.
They are receiving proper medical care and are in stable condition, the ministry said.
The MoPH continues to expand the research departments and conduct the necessary checks for everyone who has been in contact with confirmed cases.
On March 14, MoPH confirmed 17 cases, a day after 58 individuals tested positive for coronavirus. Of them, 54 were in the identified cluster tied to those tested positive earlier and most of them had been in quarantine as well. The remaining four were "related to travel contacts".
On March 11, Qatar announced 238 confirmed cases. The country has has closed universities and schools, cancelled many public events including the MotoGP and banned travellers from 14 countries entering the country.
Many of the initial cases diagnosed in Qatar were from a group of citizens and their foreign staff repatriated to the Gulf country from Iran.
On March 12, Qatar began inspections of all accommodation facilities for workers to ensure they have adopted appropriate measures to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.
