Qatar on Saturday suspended visas on arrival for travellers from Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Sudan until further notice as part of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.
However, individuals intending to travel from the four European countries who are in possession of a Qatar residence permit are excluded from this decision, provided they stay in a quarantine facility for 14 days as per the local procedures, the Government Communications Office said in a statement. The exception does not apply to travellers with Qatari residence permit from Sudan.
Earlier, Qatar had halted entry to foreigners coming from 14 Asian countries, including those with Qatar IDs.
“Qatar continues to urge citizens and residents to avoid all but essential travel at this time. These precautionary measures may be subject to further updates based on the latest guidance of the national health authorities and international organisations regarding the spread of COVID-19,” the GCO statement said.
