In view of the emergence of new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the region, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has taken several additional measures to monitor and detect any suspected cases early and reduce its transmission.
In a statement on Monday, the MoPH said it is implementing the recommendations issued by the World Health Organization in this regard.
With the coronavirus cases increasing in South Korea and Iran, the MoPH, in coordination with relevant authorities, has put in place measures to examine all travellers coming from countries that recorded a significant spike in coronavirus cases.
A number of residential buildings equipped with all amenities have been prepared to host people who need to be quarantined. People who have fever and respiratory symptoms will be transferred to the Center for Communicable Diseases for necessary checks and treatment.
The statement said the MoPH is on a high alert to detect, isolate and report any suspected cases. The MoPH has also heightened the degree of preparedness in combating the transmission of infection in hospitals and health centres.
The MoPH is also closely following the developments of the epidemic around the clock.
As a preventive measure, the MoPH has advised community members to postpone their travel to China, South Korea, Iran, Singapore, Japan and Italy.
It said following the recommended procedures can effectively contribute to containing the virus and limiting its spread.
It urged the community members to adhere to the preventive procedures and guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Public Health, and exercise a spirit of responsibility and keenness to take information from reliable sources.
The MoPH has confirmed that there is not a single case of the coronavirus in Qatar.
