Kuwait and Bahrain confirmed the first cases of novel coronavirus, with the infection detected in people returning from Iran. Israel advised its citizens not to travel to Italy, while Iran raised the number of deaths and confirmed cases.
Kuwait reported three cases and Bahrain one, according to the countries’ state-run news agencies.
Iran has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the Middle East, with 12 deaths and total number of cases at 64 so far. The Kuwait infections were linked to travelers returning from Mashhad, a Muslim pilgrim site.
As well as Kuwait and Bahrain, the countries in the region that have reported coronavirus cases are: Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Egypt and Israel.
