QT-Online / Tuesday, February 18, 2020 / Categories: Top News Al Wasmi Gardens Festival 2020 kicks off at Katara Hills Dr Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) launched the “Al-Wasmi” Garden Festival at the Southern Katara Hills in the presence of Minister of Municipality and Environment HE Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al Subaie, Ooredoo Group CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al Thani, Qatar Airways CEO and Qatar National Tourism Council Secretary-General Akbar al Baker and ambassadors of various countries. The festival witnessed during the first hours of its opening a huge crowd from different nationalities, and in this context, H.E. Dr. Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said: "the huge number of visitors in the first day of the festival confirms the success of Katara in selecting its events. He pointed out that the goal of the festival is to rise awareness among people about the importance of environment and gardening. He also explained that the festival presents cultural, entertainment and artistic activities and visitors will have the opportunity to discover the sumptuous designs of different forms of gardens. Sulaiti stressed that Katara is the first tourism destination in Qatar, a valley of cultures and an international forum to enhance human rapprochment and promote cultural exchange. Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways and Secretary-General of Qatar National Tourism Council, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are delighted to support the Al Wasmi Garden Festival. It is a fantastic new initiative for Qatar that will delight residents and visitors alike, and is a great addition to our country’s excellent calendar of events. I hope that visitors to the festival will especially enjoy the French Garden by Qatar Airways, inspired by the palace gardens of France.” Sulaiti invited all families to visit these wonderful gardens and enjoy the spectacuar atmosphere, and he also expressed his gartitude to the sponsors, namely the Qatar National Tourism Council (official sponsor), Qatar Airways official sponsor and Ooredoo as the sliver sponsor.
