Qatar has pledged $5 million for Albania to help people hit by a devastating earthquake last November. 
Qatar made the announcement at the International Donors’ Conference organised by the European Union (EC) in Brussels on Monday.
International donors have committed over a billlion euros in relief for Albania in the wake of last year’s earthquake.
The EU led the pledging of aid at the special conference to rebuild anything from homes and businesses to hospitals which were destroyed in the Nov. 26 quake. In all 51 people were killed and 17,000 left homeless.
“Today @EU_Commission & in the presence of Albania’s PM, #Qatar pledged $5 million in solidarity with the people of Albania after the devastating earthquake that hit them in November. #Together4Albania showcases how much a cooperative international community can achieve,” Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah al Khater said in a tweet.
