The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) opened a new 500m underpass at Mesaimeer Interchange, easing traffic flow from E Ring Road towards Doha Expressway.
The new underpass can accommodate more than 3000 cars per hourand it is the fourth out of nine underpasses being constructed at the Interchange.
On this occasion, Eng.Ahmad Ali Al Emadi confirmed that the new underpass is the fourth big achievement in Mesaimeer Interchange, as it is opened to traffic two months ahead of schedule. He also hinted thatalmost 80% of construction works have been completed at this interchange.  
“The new underpass connects traffic from E Ring Road towards Doha Expressway, providing a free flow traffic for road users coming from Al Thumama and Old Airport towards Doha Expressway without using the existing traffic diversion.“, he added
The newly constructed Mesaimeer Interchange is the first of its kind in Qatar, consisting three levels with nine underpasses to facilitate free flow traffic. The 6.1km long interchange consists of three to four lane carriageways to accommodate around 20,000 cars per hour in both directions.
