The Ministry of Municipality and Environment will open Al Khor Family Park to the public on Feb. 16, after its development and maintenance project were completed under the supervision of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the follow-up of the Ministry's Public Parks Department. The development and maintenance work lasted for 100 days, at a cost of QR 32 million.
Al Khor Family Park is among most important and largest parks in the State of Qatar, and it is a destination for all residents in Qatar. It features green spaces and large trees. It has environmental and entertainment sections and a lecture hall, in addition to a playground in the entertainment service part and an artificial lake surrounded by large numbers of trees, perennial plants and seasonal flowers.
The development work expanded the Park's zoo and added several sections and different types of animals, while providing the highest standards of security and safety for visitors so that the Park becomes a major recreational destination. After the opening of the Park's zoo, the number of visitors is expected to reach about 500000 people annually.
The entry fee for Al Khor Family Park is set at QR 15 for adults, QR 10 for children up to the age of ten years, while the train ride fee is QR 5, and can accommodate 60 passengers.
It is expected that the outcome of these symbolic fees will contribute to the efforts to develop and improve the facilities and services provided by this Park for visitors as well as preserve them according to the best international standards.
