A cold spell is expected to affect Qatar from Sunday and is likely to last for several days, according to the Qatar Meteorology Department.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Met Office attributed the possible cold spell to an extension of a high pressure system over the region accompanied with northwesterly fresh to strong wind especially on Sunday and Monday.
Wind speeds are expected to range between 15 to 25 kt with gusts exceeding 30 kt inshore and reaching 40 kt offshore causing blowing dust and poor visibility below 3 km in some areas.
Maximum temperatures expected to drop during the cold spell ranging between 14 to 17°C and the minimum between 5 to 12°C across the country. The felt temperatures will be lower than that due to windy conditions. Qatar Meteorology Department urges all to take extra care, avoid all marine activities as well as to follow latest updates through it's official social media accounts.
