Retail spaces available at Doha Metro stations; registration date extended until Sept-end

Local entrepreneurs and companies seeking commercial spaces at certain Doha Metro stations have time until next week to register themselves, Qatar Rail said in a statement announcing the deadline extension on Tuesday.
The online registration is open until September 26, 2019. Application for the retail spaces can be submitted in a few easy steps through Qatar Rail’s online retail portal at retail.qr.com.qa.
Commercial spaces are available in stations on three metro lines — 10 stations on the Gold Line from Ras Bu Abboud to Al Aziziyah, the Al Riffa station on the Green Line and five Red Line stations from Katara to Lusail, and the Hamad International Airport station.
The retail units have competitive licensing rates, which are fixed for a period of five years, the statement said.
“Unit licensing rates during this period will not be affected by fluctuation in the rental market. Additionally, these rates are also inclusive of utilities, water and electricity.”
Also, the statement said, the retail units include ready-flooring and shop shutters. The commercial outlets are located outside of the paid area in the stations, reaching a wider customer segment, it added.
“All applications will go through a comprehensive review based on experience, proposed business plan, store concept and the nature of the activity. Qatar Rail aims to achieve diversity and integration between the various retail outlets to better service customers and metro commuters,” the statement said.
With over 9200 square metres of retail space across 37 stations, these outlets are considered the first-of-its-kind in Qatar as they provide business access to railway commuters and neighbourhood customers.
The stations provide constant significant footfall and are premium locations for retail outlets, Qatar Rail said, adding that they would offer four main types of retail including services — food and beverage, convenience stores and general retail.
