HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani on Saturday opened the Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare 2019, held at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) under the theme "Patient Safety First".
The ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a documentary about the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).
HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari said tat the growth in the health care system in Qatar brings the country to a world class level, pointing that during the past year, a number of hospitals and health centres have been opened to provide quality health care to patients without the need for long commuting. HE the Minister pointed that the State of Qatar ranked 25th in the best health systems that ensure easy access to health care and quality according to the World Health Organization.
For his part, CEO of the US Institute of Healthcare Improvement Derek Feeley said that the renewed partnership between the IHI and HMC is critical to promoting quality development initiatives and continuing hospital-to-home care, noting the renewed cooperation with HMC for providing a dedicated forum for quality improvement practitioners to help focus on developing new and better ways to care for the patient.
Following the opening, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior opened the associated exhibition (Knowledge Zone), where His Excellency reviewed the most important projects, implemented by the State in the health sector, for improving quality, safety and interactive educational activities.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellences Ministers and members of diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Qatar, along with senior officials in the health sector.
