The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani patronised the graduation ceremony of the 6th batch of students of Al Zaeem (Leader) Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air College at its headquarters on Wednesday morning.
The ceremony was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Ali Mohammed and a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, senior officers at the Ministry of Defense, military leaders, leaders of security colleges from brotherly and friendly countries, guests and parents of graduates.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem. Then the commander of the parade came forward requesting HH the Amir to review the parade of the 82 graduates.
After reciting verses from the Holy Quran, the graduates' infantry parade then started, led by the State's flag.
HH the Amir then honored outstanding graduates of the 6th batch and the outstanding members of the fourth course of helicopter pilot trainers from the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait.
After that the sixth batch handed over the flag to the seventh batch. An order for promotions was read out.
HH the Amir also watched an airshow by aircraft of the Amiri Air Forces and Al Zaeem Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air College. The Amiri Air Forces' aircraft included a number of Mirage 2000, Alpha Jet, C-130 and C17 and Agusta, while Al Zaeem College's aircraft included PC-21, Super Mushshak and Gazelle.
After the show, the graduates took the oath and sang the national anthem.
Addressing the ceremony, College Commander Brigadier (Pilot) Salim Hamad Al Nabit said that Al Zaeem expressed the pride of graduating the 6th batch of pilots and the supporting disciplines.
He said that there is an increase in the number of graduates of this year by more than 40 percent compared to the graduates of the 5th batch.
HE pointed out that the 6th batch included 51 pilots and 28 graduates of supporting disciplines, in addition to graduation of the first regiment of officers of the Aircraft Armament Systems, which is a new discipline in the college.
He also expressed thanks to HH the Amir and officials in the State for the care and attention given to the College.
