Katara Cultural Village has announced the establishment of a new forum for Qatari farmers to meet and discuss issues and problems related to agriculture.
This was announced by HE Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village during a ceremony held by Katara on Tuesday at its premises to honour local farmers who participated in the Mahaseel Festival 2018.
Al Sulaiti said that this new initiative reflects Katara’s keenness to support Qatar’s development strategy in all fields. He added that Katara has dedicated one of its buildings for local farmers to meet and discuss their issues.
“This will be a platform for local farmers and farm owners to exchange experiences and discuss agricultural issues, which will help in promoting this sector,” said Dr Al Sulaiti.
He appreciated the role of the farmers in the Mahaseel Festival held by Katara earlier this year and their effective contribution in boosting agricultural production.
On this occasion, Dr Al Sulaiti honoured several farmers, agricultural companies, experts and officials from various sections of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment for their contribution in making the Festival a big success.
On the other hand, the participants praised the efforts and the constant support Katara extended to them through various initiatives to increase production and find marketing outlets.
“Such initiatives by Katara motivate all farmers and encourage more people to join this field, which promotes our goal to fulfill self-sufficiency in local production”, commented Ahmed Al Emadi, CEO of Al Qimma Agricultural Company.
